What are you most optimistic about when it comes to the Canadian Mortgage industry?
Mortgage Professionals now finally have options to choose how and with which business partners they wish to conduct their business. For years we existed in an oligopolistic state when it came to how we submitted through to lenders, onboarded client info and collected documents.

We’re now empowered with incredible options to really formulate the end to end process with a true focus on our clients and their experience.

It’s an exciting time to be part of the home buying journey and with even more innovation to come in the near future.

How did you become a mortgage broker?
I was working at RBC and tired of only being able to offer one product and only be representing the banks best interests instead of my clients. While there I met a mobile rep and her partner was a Broker, it was a perfect fit for me and began as an agent from there!

Outside of work, what are you passionate about?
Philanthropy is really important to support the community that supports us! I sit on the board with Food4Kids Halton and the Oakville Hospital Charity Board, my children and amazing wife, guitar, dad jokes, culinary arts & did I mention I love dad jokes ? Travelling (god I really miss that right now) and the culinary arts are all my jams.

What’s one thing about being a mortgage broker that you wish you knew “back then”?
There’s so much I wish I knew! One I have come to embrace - Be YOURSELF. I used to have a reserved version of myself with clients that wasn’t true to who I was outside of work. But, being true to who you are is less effort and I really feel clients resonate knowing they are working with someone that’s genuine. No one is perfect. That's one other thing I wish I knew years ago - it's OK if you’re not right for everyone & is OK to not work with a client or just say NO.

What’s your favourite podcast or book?
How to Win friends and influence people. It's just a timeless classic that I try to reread every couple years. It’s applicable to business, personal relations and communication from clients to your kids.

How does Finmo fit into your process?
Hands down, Auto-Docs is a GAME CHANGER.

I also love the deal flow from a user experience and how the experience no longer stops once a client submits their application as it used to. A client submitting an application Friday at 9pm doesn’t now have to wait all weekend to be provided the list of required docs (and I don’t have to work weekends either!).

Being able to communicate as well so easily with clients right from Finmo by email and text has been incredible, clients get the text, they click the link, authorize the camera on their phone and we get the required doc back in literally minutes securely - it couldn’t be any easier.

For anyone struggling and debating hiring an assistant, sign up with Finmo Pro and you now have the world's best and cheapest assistant working for you to chase all docs on your behalf and let you focus on building your business.
